How does one prepare for the biggest night in Hollywood?
Well, if you’re the Oscar-nominated director of Moonlight, Barry Jenkins, you do laundry.
Just hours before the big show, at which Jenkins’ coming-of-age drama is up for eight awards including best picture and best director, the filmmaker tweeted out a picture of himself checking his watch while in front of a row of washing machines. “Oscar morning. Startin the day off right (because I’m outta clean socks and undershirts),” he captioned the photo.
Jenkins, who earned his first Oscar nominations this year for adapting and directing playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney’s stage play, In Moonlight Black Boys Look Blue, previously celebrated his Golden Globe nomination by “drinking coffee and doing laundry. It keeps me grounded and it’s therapeutic,” the director told The Hollywood Reporter.
