Chris Evans sheds his Captain America image to play a different kind of hero in the first official trailer for Before We Go.
The film, which serves as the actor’s directorial debut, stars Evans and Alice Eve as two strangers who have a chance encounter at Grand Central Station after Eve’s character gets her purse stolen and misses the train.
The two develop a connection as they roam the streets of New York through the night and into the early hours of the morning as Evans’ character tries to lead her home.
“If we can find your purse, we can get you home and make me a hero,” he says in a particular scene. “Want to come with me on a little adventure?”
The romantic dramedy, inspired by Richard Linklater‘s Before Sunrise, hits select theaters Sept. 4.
