The Bella Thorne- and Jessie T. Usher-starring thriller Ride has been acquired by RLJ Entertainment for North American rights.
RLJ Entertainment Films and the Urban Movie Channel, brands of RLJ Entertainment, plan a fall 2018 theatrical, VOD and digital release. Ride marks the feature film debut of writer-director Jeremy Ungar, and also stars Will Brill (The OA).
“With its talented young cast and thrilling plotline, we know audiences are going to be drawn to Ride,” said Mark Ward, chief acquisitions officer for RLJE Films, in a statement. Ride follows James (Usher), a ride-share driver, and his passenger, Jessica (Thorne), as they pick up the charismatic but manipulative Bruno (Brill) — as a night out in Los Angeles becomes a psychological war for survival.
Ride is produced by Keith Kjarval, Tyler Jackson and Sefton Fincham. Robert Jones and Wayne Marc Godfrey executive produce, along with David Grace, Mike Rowe, Levi Sheck, and Dean Buchanan.
Ward and Jess De Leo from RLJE negotiated the rights deal with Endeavor Content on behalf of the filmmakers.
