Ben Affleck is circling the male lead in David Fincher‘s Gone Girl for 20th Century Fox and New Regency, which recently came on as a co-financier.
The project, based on Gillian Flynn‘s runaway best-seller, is coming together and would mark Affleck’s next starring role.

The story kicks off with the five-year anniversary of a married couple. The wife, yet to be cast, goes missing, and the husband (Affleck) emerges as the prime suspect.
Affleck would shoot Gone Girl before directing and starring in Warner Bros.’ Live by Night.
Flynn wrote the screenplay for the film, which is being produced by Reese Witherspoon and Leslie Dixon.
He is repped by WME.
