Ben Kingsley will voice the black panther Bagheera in Disney’s The Jungle Book adaptation.
Jon Favreau is directing the film from a script by Justin Marks. The project, slated for release in 3D on October 9, 2015, is a combination of live-action and animation. Following a boy who is raised by the animals of the jungle, the film will feature mostly CG for the animals.

Idris Elba already has been cast as the voice of the tiger Shere Khan in Disney’s take on Rudyard Kipling‘s classic tale.
Kingsley’s recent projects include Ender’s Game and Iron Man 3. His upcoming films include Autobahn, Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb and Exodus: Gods and Kings. He’s repped by CAA, Independent Talent Group and Stone Meyer.
Warner Bros. also is moving forward with its own adaptation of The Jungle Book, with Andy Serkis attached to direct.
