Benedict Cumberbatch sounds just as elated to be playing Doctor Strange as many fans are to see him in the role.
Marvel officially announced this week that the Imitation Game actor would be starring as the title character in 2016’s Doctor Strange, and he spoke to the press on Sunday for the first time about the news.

“It’s a thrilling gig to get — I just can’t wait,” Cumberbatch told Hey U Guys at the 2014 British Independent Film Awards, where he had been nominated for best actor for The Imitation Game but lost to Calvary‘s Brendan Gleeson.
Cumberbatch added that he was “excited, really excited” to play the Marvel sorcerer but said he couldn’t provide more details about the film. He pointed out that he had a lot of work ahead of him on the project.
