Love it or hate it, everyone seems to have an opinion about Benedict Cumberbatch joining Marvel’s Doctor Strange as the Sorcerer Supreme.
Let’s start with the jokes (there are plenty).
Benedict Cumberbatch is going to be Dr. Strange. Hope Dr. Strange never runs into penguins. https://t.co/G3q4zYaJJ0

Apparently Benedict Cumberbatch has landed the role of DOCTOR STRANGE. On the count of 3 shall we all scream, “Yes!” together?

The one thing Benedict Cumberbatch has going for him is that his name already sounds like one of #DoctorStrange‘s spells.

But not everyone was happy. Noted Star Trek fan (and vocal Star Trek Into Darkness critic) Jordan Hoffman had this to say:
Cumberbatch again?!? What a vomitorium Hollywood can be.
— Jordan Hoffman (@jhoffman) October 27, 2014
Cumberbatch accepted in another “geek” role further proof that JJ Abrams has allowed Star Trek to become a doormat.
— Jordan Hoffman (@jhoffman) October 27, 2014
But he finally conceded Cumberbatch would be OK.
Cumberbatch will be fine. I’m just bitter about STID, always. And #MarvelHouseStyle will likely save STRANGE from Derrickson.

Others wondered if taking on another franchise was the right move for Cumberbatch.
I love, love, *love* Benedict Cumberbatch, so know this comes from the heart when I say NONONONO. No. No. Nooooooooooooooooope.

Cumberbatch overexposure could very likely become a thing. If it hasn’t already. Pick your roles smartly, Benedict!

Just remember, for each Marvel movie Benedict Cumberbatch is in, we will lose 3 or 4 quality Benedict Cumberbatch performances.
