K5 International has picked up Blue Angel, written and directed by Richard Levine with Clive Owen lined up to headline.
The movie is based on Francine Prose’s novel of the same name and tells the story of a once successful novelist turned disillusioned college professor who is brought back to life by a gifted young female writing student who brings new energy to his class of no-hopers.
Billed as a psychological roller coaster ride between sex, seduction and emotional manipulation, the picture will be made by New York-based producers Lars Knudsen and Jay Van Hoy of Parts & Labor.
The deal was negotiated by K5 partner, sales and finance and co-founder Daniel Baur on behalf of K5 International and David Fox on behalf of the filmmaker.
Owen, Levine and Prose are repped by CAA. Prose is also represented by the Denise Shannon Literary Agency, Inc.
K5 founders Oliver Simon and Baur described Owen as being “the perfect fit” for playing a smart and cynical guy “who should know better, finding himself hopelessly caught between seduction and manipulation.”
