COLOGNE, Germany – The leads in Oscar contenders A Royal Affair, Lore and Purge – Mikkel Boe Folsgaard, Saskia Rosendahl and Laura Birn – made the cut for the 2013 Shooting Stars – the showcase of the top 10 best young actors from Europe.

The new Shooting Stars selection – announced Wednesday – includes French actress Christia Theret (La Brindille),Slovenia’s Jure Henigman (A Trip) and Sweden’s Nermina Lukac, who made her acting debut this year with Gabriela Pichler‘s drama Eat Sleep Die.
Completing the list are Arta Dobroshi of Kosovo, who appeared in the Dardenne Brothers‘ Lorna’s Silence (2008) and in Catherine Corsini‘s Three Worlds this year; Luca Marinelli of Italy – the star of Paolo Virzi‘s Every Blessed Day; and Ada Condeescu of Romania, whose credits include Catalin Mitulescu‘s Loverboy and the 2010 Berlinale Competition title If I Want to Whistle, I Whistle.
The 2013 Shooting Stars were picked by a jury of film professionals, including German producer Bettina Brokemper, French film journalist Thierry Cheze, British casting director Jina Jay, Italian actress Alba Rohrwacher and Bosnian director Jasmila Zbanic.The jury picked the 10 candidates from a list of 27 actors submitted by the members of European Film Promotion, which organizes the Shooting Stars event.
The new Shooting Stars crop will be presented to the international film industry and press at a three-day event Feb. 9-11 during the 63rd Berlin International Film Festival.
Now entering its 16th year, the Shooting Stars have included such future success stories as Daniel Craig, Carey Mulligan, French actress Melanie Laurent and Germany’s Daniel Bruhl.
