Christina Ricci has nabbed the lead role in Monstrous, the supernatural thriller from director Chris Sivertson and screenwriter Carol Chrest.
Film Mode Entertainment is handling international sales at the virtual Berlin market in partnership with Screen Media, which has acquired the world rights outside of North America, U.K., Japan and the Middle East. Colleen Camp co-stars in Monstrous, which centers on a traumatized woman fleeing from her abusive ex-husband with her 7-year-old son.
In their new, remote sanctuary they find they have a bigger, more terrifying monster to deal with. “Carol Chrest created an iconic genre character who Christina Ricci brings to life in a mesmerizing and deeply emotional performance,” said Sivertson in a statement.
High Octane has acquired the rights to Monstrous in the Middle East, North Africa and Japan. Previous collaborations between Screen Media and Film Mode include the Bruce Willis sci-fi thriller Anti-Life, the horror film Dreamcatcher and Senior Moment, starring William Shatner, Jean Smart and Christopher Lloyd.
Robert Yocum, Sasha Yelaun, B.I. Rosen and Johnny Remo are producing Monstrous. Sivertson, Adam Goldworm, Omer Paracha, Sean Reilly, Clay Epstein, Craig Albrecht, Carol Anne Watts, Adam Sigal, Galen Christy, Mike Hatton and Mark Silba are sharing the executive producer credits.
Ricci is repped by Untitled and ICM. Camp is repped by Gersh, while Sivertson is repped by Sloss Eckhouse and Aperture Entertainment.
