Michael Wilhoite for Café CarlyleDebbie Harry is joining The Affair’s Ruth Wilson in Osgood Perkins’ I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House.
Bob Balaban and Lucy Boynton also will star in the thriller, which Netflix will release. Perkins wrote and will be directing the film, which is set to begin principal photography Ottawa on Feb. 16.
The Blondie lead singer will play a reclusive best-selling author who hires a young nurse (Wilson) to care for her. The 19th century farmhouse in Massachusetts where she resides, however, holds a horrific ghost story of its own that inspired her most famous book.
Rob Paris’ Paris Film Inc. is producing and co-financing I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House via a venture with Robert Menzies’s production shingle Zed Filmworks, and Canadian real estate developer Alphonse Ghossein’s Go Insane Films. Paris and Menzies are producing while Ghossein is executive producing.
Along with her music career as part of Blondie and as a solo artist, Harry has appeared in dozens of films over the years, including 2008’s Elegy, 2002’s Deuces Wild and 1997’s Cop Land. She’s represented by Untitled Entertainment.
