Fortissimo Films has signed a multi-picture film with Chinese multi-hyphenate Zhang Wei.
The deal, announced Monday, will include the filmmaker’s first two titles, Factory Boss, which won the best actor award at the Montreal Film Festival, and Destiny. International sales are set to kick off at the European Film Market, which starts in Berlin later this week.
Wei, who produces films under his Huahao Film & Media banner, is currently in post-production on The Sound of a Dream, which follows the story of four visually impaired Tibetan children.
The deal was negotiated by Fortissimo chairman Michael J. Werner together with Wei and Peter Donner of Beijing-based Lightshades.
