Berlin is going to get it’s very own Critics’ Week.
The German film critics association, together with the Heinrich Boll Foundation, has launched Critics’ Week Berlin, a series of screenings inspired by similar programs in the Cannes, Venice and Locarno festivals.

Like their European counterparts, the Berlin Critics’ Week will not be an official part of the Berlin Film Festival but will run concurrent to it. The inaugural Critics’ Week Berlin runs Feb. 5-12 and will feature 10 titles.
Two films that have already been confirmed are Bernard Emond’s The Diary of an Old Man, which will have its world premiere in Berlin; and Johnnie To’s romantic comedy Don’t Go Breaking My Heart 2, the sequel to his 2011 feature which will screen as a double feature together with the original film. Don’t Go Breaking My Heart 2 premiered in Toronto last year.

All Critics’ Week Berlin films will screen at the Hackesche Hofe cinemas in eastern Berlin with free admission to those accredited to the Berlin film festival, as well as all German film critics association members.
