Berlin: Germany’s A Company, Carte Blanche Film Launch Production Joint Venture

Germany’s A Company and Carte Blanche Film have set up a production joint venture to make feature films and television series for the international market.

The new group, Carte Blanche International, will be run by A Company’s Alexander van Dulmen and Carte Blanche’s Stephan Wagner.

The company’s slate includes Antalyagrad, a culture-clash comedy starring Til Schweiger and Fedor Bondarchuk, the biggest box office draws in Germany and Russia, respectively, and a high-end television series based on the life of Catherine the Great.

Wagner has brought several projects from Carte Blanche into the new venture, including a biopic on Ronald Miehling, the “cocaine king” of Hamburg, who famously supplied the drugs for nationwide celebrations after the fall of the Berlin Wall.

On the TV side, Wagner is developing Coryza, a series based on the novel Chain of Chance, a conspiracy thriller from legendary Polish sci-fi writer Stanislaw Lem (Solaris, The Congress).
