BERLIN – Robert Luketic has been tapped to direct Millennium Films’ The ExpendaBelles, the female-focused entry in the Sylvester Stallone action franchise, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
Kirsten Smith and Karen McCullah wrote the script for the action-comedy and will reunite with Luketic, whom they worked with on Legally Blonde.

Luketic will begin casting soon, and the film aims to shoot this summer. The story centers on female operatives who have to pose as call girls in order to rescue a nuclear scientist who is being held hostage.
Stallone and Kevin King are producing while Heidi Jo Markel, Julie Kroll, Avi Lerner, Trevor Short, Boaz Davidson, John Thompson and Mark Gill are executive producing.
Luketic has directed several female-focused films including Legally Blonde, The Ugly Truth and Monster-in-Law. He also helmed 21 and Paranoia. He’s repped by CAA, Mosaic and Bloom Hergott.
The Expendables franchise consists of two already released films and one more slated for release this summer. They’ve starred Stallone, Dolph Lundgren, Jason Statham, Jet Li and Arnold Schwarzenegger, among other action stars. The first two films have earned more than $579.9 million worldwide.
