COLOGNE, Germany – Berlin has slipped one more film into competition at the 11th hour, with Wang Quan’an‘s historic drama White Deer Plain making the cut for the 2012 fest.
The Chinese director is no stranger to Berlin. His Mongolian-set feature Tuya’s Wedding won Berlin’s top prize, the Golden Bear, back in 2006.
White Deer Plain is set in the time of China’s cultural revolution and stars Zhang Fengyi, Zhang Yugi and Wu Gang. It will have its world premiere in Berlin.
The 62nd Berlin international film festival runs Feb. 9-19.
