The Black Nights International Film Festival, which will kick off on Nov. 13 in the Estonian capital of Tallinn, has unveiled the main program.
The festival’s 19th edition will feature 21 movies in the official competition, seven of which are world premieres.
Among the selection’s highlights are Sado (The Throne) by South Korean director Lee Joon-ik; the Georgian/Russian co-production Gakhinuli shadrevnebis tselitsadi (The Summer of Frozen Fountains), directed by Vano Burduli; The Prosecutor, the Defender, the Father and his Son, co-produced by Bulgaria, Sweden and the Netherlands and directed by Iglika Triffonova; and The Automatic Hate by U.S. director Justin Lerner.
This year, the festival is launching the Tridens first feature competition, in which 14 movies from around the world are to compete.
For this edition, the festival is also expanding the Works in Progress structure, adding a new section with about 15 works to the existing showcase, run by the Baltic Event co-production market.
The 1929 silent movie Chemi bebia, by Georgian director Kote Mikaberidze, is to be screened as the festival’s opening night film.
