TOKYO — Takashi Miike’s The Mole Song – Undercover Agent Reiji topped the Japanese box office for the second weekend in a row, with Eternal Zero holding on to second position after being dislodged from the top spot last weekend following eight weeks at No. 1.
Miike’s cops-and-yakuza-mafia romp took in another $2.3 million (¥235.8 million) over the weekend to bring its cumulative total to $8 million.

Wartime drama Eternal Zero (Eien no Zero) is now heading for $80 million (¥8 billion) after ten weeks near the top of the chart. The film is based on a best-selling book by nationalist author Naoki Hyakuta, appointed a governor of public broadcaster NHK late last year, who caused controversy earlier this month by denying an infamous massacre in China by the Japanese Imperial Army, took place.

Kick-Ass 2, released locally as Kick Ass – Justice Forever, bowed in fifth place, taking in $764,000 (¥78.3 million) on 215 screens on Saturday and Sunday.
