Jurassic World Still 1 - H 2015

The studio’s films this year have now earned $5.53 billion globally, marking the highest-grossing year ever for a Hollywood studio, not accounting for inflation. To boot, Universal has hit the milestone in only seven months.
Fox was the previous record-holder with $5.52 billion, a feat accomplished in 2014.
Jeff Shell, chairman of Universal Filmed Entertainment Group and Donna Langley, chairman of Universal Pictures, announced the news.
“At Universal we are fortunate to have the best team in the business,” said Shell. “This tremendous success is a result of continued strategic decision-making from our production, marketing and distribution teams, along with strong dating choices. I’m tremendously proud of the success we’ve been able to achieve together.”
Added Langley: “We are in business with some of the most talented people in the industry and the success of our slate this year is a testament to the creativity and vision of our filmmakers. With five months remaining in 2015 and ten films still to come, we look forward to celebrating even more record-breaking milestones.”
Universal’s 2015 slate is led by Jurassic World ($1.56 billion), Furious 7 ($1.51 billion) and Minions ($856.9 million). Other standouts include Fifty Shades of Grey ($569.7 million) and Pitch Perfect 2 ($283 million).
