Talk about timing.
Hours after word broke Tuesday that Angelina Jolie has filed for divorce from Brad Pitt, Paramount tweeted a new TV spot for Allied, Pitt’s next film, setting social media ablaze.
The 60-second ad — showing Pitt and star Marion Cotillard as intelligence officers who fall in love and start a family, but run into marital trouble when the war breaks out in London — will air Tuesday night during NBC’s ensemble drama This Is Us, one of fall’s most anticipated new shows.
The plan to play the spot during This Is Us has long been in the works, Paramount insiders tell The Hollywood Reporter. They add that it’s normal practice for spots to be shared on a film’s social handles ahead of their on-air premieres.
Allied hits theaters Nov. 23. During production of the film earlier this year, the British press carried reports of a rumored affair between Pitt and Cotillard. But those close to the actress refuted any such claims to People.
