Deadpool 2 star Brianna Hildebrand has lined up another film in the genre space. Hildebrand is joining the cast of Persephone, which also stars Mary-Louise Parker, Malcolm McDowell, Emile Hirsch and Lance Reddick.
Jeffrey Morris wrote and is directing the project, which takes place in the late 22nd century and centers on three astronauts from Colony One, a giant ship transporting 20,000 colonists from a dying Earth to a planet orbiting Alpha Centauri, Proxima B (known as Persephone). It’s is a seemingly lifeless mass double the size of Earth with double the gravity. Hildebrand plays Darcy Webb, a shuttle pilot for the colony ship who was born during the 50-year journey from Earth to Persephone. During a critical mission for survival, she goes head-to-head with engineer Tanya Baxter (Parker) about the right course of action, and soon they learn they may not actually be alone on their new home planet.
Hildebrand broke out in 2016’s Deadpool as the teen X-Men trainee Negasonic Teenage Warhead, and starred in Deadpool 2 earlier this year. She recently joined Trinkets, a Netflix series based on the YA novel.
Persephone is being shopped at the American Film Market. Pixomondo Studios is co-producing with FutureDude and Evolutionary. Anne Marie Gillen, John Adams and Diane Shorthouse are producing.
Hildebrand is repped by ICM, 23 Management Group and David Feldman at Bloom Hergott.
