Momentum Pictures has acquired North American rights to writer-director Martin Koolhoven’s Western Brimstone, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival, Ian Goggins, Momentum’s senior vp content, announced Friday.
The film stars Dakota Fanning, Guy Pearce, Kit Harington, Carice van Houten and Emilia Jones and tells the tale of a frontier woman who turns fugitive when she is wrongly accused of a crime she didn’t commit. She is then hunted by a vengeful preacher. The film was produced by Els Vandevorst and Uwe Schott.
Momentum said it plans a theatrical run and VOD release in March.
The deal was negotiated on behalf of Momentum by Sejin Croninger, vp worldwide acquisitions for Entertainment One, and CAA on behalf of the filmmakers.
