British Film Institute Creates Deputy Head of Festivals Role

LONDON – Former BAFTA executive Tricia Tuttle has landed at the British Film Institute in the newly-created role of deputy head of festivals.

Tuttle’s appointment  “completes” the BFI’s revamp of its festival and exhibition teams and will see her report directly to BFI head of cinemas and festivals Clare Stewart.

Tuttle is tasked with delivering the annual programs for the BFI London Film Festival and the BFI Lesbian and Gay Film Festival.

She will manage a team of programmers and program advisors, the BFI said.

Tuttle joins from BAFTA where she has senior manager, film & skills for the last five years.

During her tenure at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Tuttle was responsible for the film program, including the organization’s international screenwriters lecture series, the annual David Lean lecture and the inaugural edition of talent development program Brits to Watch: The Screenings.

The newly created role comes as a result of the BFI’s decision to create four new teams within its Exhibition department – festivals, cinemas, events and production and business and industry.
