The red-band trailer for Melissa Rauch’s The Bronze has surfaced online, showcasing a protagonist who puts the “nasty” in “gymnastics.”
Rauch, who also wrote the film, stars as Hope Greggory, a bronze-medal-winning gymnast from the 2004 Olympics who moves back home and begrudgingly takes on a protege, Maggie, played by Haley Lu Richardson.
Stuck in the early 2000s, Hope still dons her Olympic warm-ups, scrunchie and bangs while she tears through her small hometown, insulting most anyone she sees, especially Silicon Valley‘s Thomas Middleditch. At the end of the spot, Hope teaches Maggie how to “Sell it to the bitch-ass judges.”
Cecily Strong and Gary Cole also star in the comedy, which is directed by Bryan Buckley.
