Byron Allen’s Entertainment Studios has hired Peggy Hsieh as its senior vp finance.
Hsieh will oversee accounting and finance for Allen’s recently acquired theatrical and digital movie distribution divisions, Entertainment Studios Motion Pictures and Freestyle Digital Media. The upstart distributor released the hit Mandy Moore starrer 47 Meters Down and has also acquired Rob Cohen’s action-thriller The Hurricane Heist, the Keanu Reeves-starrer Replicas and the historical thriller Chappaquiddick, starring Jason Clarke as Sen. Ted Kennedy.
Based in the ES headquarters in Los Angeles, Hsieh will report directly to Eric Gould, executive vp finance and chief investment officer, and Allen, founder, chairman and CEO.
Hsieh comes directly to ES after 11 years at Wasserman Media Group, where she was senior vp accounting. She began her career as an auditor for Ernst & Young and then served as a portfolio accountant at Bel Air Investment Advisors before moving on to Platinum Equity, where she worked internationally with newly acquired portfolio companies.
“I am excited to join Entertainment Studios, as they are currently experiencing unprecedented growth and opportunities in their movie and digital media divisions,” said Hsieh. “Both Entertainment Studios Motion Pictures and Freestyle Digital Media are dynamic and growing brands in our industry, and I am very happy to be on Byron Allen’s team.”
Added Allen: “Peggy Hsieh is a terrific new addition to our Entertainment Studios family. Peggy’s extensive accounting and financial experience makes her the ideal executive team leader as we continue to grow our global media company and aggressively pursue production and acquisitions of quality movie titles for both our theatrical and digital distribution platforms.”
