China’s Bliss Media has acquired the rights to action comedy Why We’re Killing Gunther, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, for the Middle Kingdom.
The film, about hit men trying to take out the world’s top hit man, also stars Bobby Moynihan, Cobie Smulders, Paul Brittain, Ryan Gaul, Hannah Simone, Allison Tolman, Aaron Yoo, Amir Talai and Peter Kelamis. It is directed by Saturday Night Live alumn Taran Killam, who’s making his directorial debut. He also wrote the script and stars in the film.
IMR International is handling international rights at Cannes. The comedy was financed by StarStream Media and is also produced by Kim Leadford, Ash Sarohia and Steven Squillante.
Bliss, which has offices in Shanghai and L.A., is active in movie financing, production and distribution.
