Cam Gigandet and Jessica Lowndes will star in supernatural thriller Becoming, from Arclight Films, Fearless Films, SKM Productions and South Creek Pictures.
Omar Naim (The Final Cut) is helming the film, which centers on a newly engaged couple that embark on a road-trip to meet the bride’s mother. Along the way the couple decide to take a detour to a distant relative, but soon fine themselves trapped in a life-threatening situation until one of them has to take matters into their own hands.
Gaby Whyte Hart, Michael Kuperberg and Dave Valleau are producing the film, which is slated to begin shooting in July. Mark Wheeler, Fredrik Malmberg and Tex Antonucci are exec producing.
“We’re thrilled to introduce such a dynamic and edgy film as Becoming to buyers in Cannes for the very first time,” said Clay Epstein, senior vp sales and acquisitions for Arclight Films. “This film has all of the elements both distributors and audiences around the world are clamoring for: suspense, mystery, thrills, hair-raising surprises around each corner and an extremely talented team with a proven track-record of success around the world.”
Gigandet, known for the Twilight films, also appeared in Priest and Easy A. He’s repped by UTA and Luber Roklin Entertainment.
Lowndes starred on the TV reboot of 90210, and she also appeared on Greek and Hawaii Five-0. She’s repped by APA, Aperture Entertainment and Sloane, Offer.
Naim is repped by APA, Zero Gravity and attorney Carolyn Conrad.
