Mad Max is set to hit Cannes in May.
The Warner Bros. sequel Mad Max: Fury Road will get an out of competition screening on May 14 at Grand Théâtre Lumière, the film festival announced on Wednesday.
The film will open worldwide following its Cannes unveiling, opening in the U.S. on the following day, May 15.
In the new Mad Max, Tom Hardy takes over from Mel Gibson, who created the character of a postapocalyptic road warrior. The film marks a return to the franchise for Miller, who directed the original 1979 Mad Max and its sequels Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior in 1981 and Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome in 1985.
The Warners/Village Roadshow production also stars Charlize Theron and was produced by Kennedy Miller Mitchell Productions.
