Sundance Selects has picked up U.S. rights to writer-director Francois Ozon‘s Young & Beautiful, which had its world premiere as a competition entry at the Cannes Film Festival.
The film stars Marine Vacth as a young woman discovering her sexuality. Also starring are Geraldine Pailhas, Frederic Pierrot, Fantin Ravat, Johan Leysen, Charlotte Rampling, Nathalie Richard, Djedje Apali, Lucas Prisor, Laurent Delbecque, Jeanne Ruff and Serge Hefez.
The film was produced by Eric and Nicolas Altmayer.
The deal is Sundance Selects’ third Cannes acquisition, following its pickups of Abdellatif Kechiche’s Blue Is The Warmest Color and Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne’s Two Days, One Night. It was negotiated by Arianna Bocco, senior vice president of acquisitions and productions for Sundance Selects/IFC Films, with Carole Baraton and Henri Fabre of Wild Bunch on behalf of the filmmakers.
“With films like Swimming Pool and In the House, Francois Ozon has proven himself to be a master storyteller when it comes to sensuality in cinema and now, with Young & Beautiful, he has delivered another must-see film. We were all blown away by the incredible performance from Marine Vacth,” said Jonathan Sehring, president of Sundance Selects/IFC Films.
