StudioCanal UK has released a teaser trailer for the ‘50s-set lesbian romance drama, in which a woman in her 20s (Mara) who works in a Manhattan department store meets Carol (Blanchett), who is trapped in a loveless, marriage of convenience.

Directed by Todd Haynes, the film is based on Patricia Highsmith’s novel The Price of Salt and also stars Kyle Chandler. It played at the Cannes Film Festival in competition this year, and will screen at the upcoming London Film Festival.
Fittingly set to a recording of “My Foolish Heart,” the mostly-wordless montage previews the first meeting, passing glances and somber tears of the bold relationship.
