Casey Affleck’s production company Sea Change Media has signed an exclusive first-look deal with Amazon Studios.
The two-year deal, covering both film and television projects, repairs Affleck with Amazon, after he won the best actor Oscar for Manchester by the Sea, which Amazon nabbed out of the Sundance Film Festival. Whitaker Lader, a Sundance Institute alum, serves as head of production and development of Sea Change, which looks to develop bold, authentic, smart content, shining a light on underrepresented voices and stories, and operating with a philosophy of inclusivity and collaboration.
“This deal with Casey exemplifies our focus in expanding Amazon Studios’ relationships with top-notch filmmakers and content creators,” said Roy Price, head of Amazon Studios, in a statement. “Our goal is to be in business with high caliber talent in order to grow our slate of quality content for our customers.”
Affleck’s upcoming films include Light of My Life, the father-daughter drama which he wrote, directed and stars in; David Lowery’s crime flick The Old Man and the Gun opposite Robert Redford; and Joe Wright’s Stoner adaptation. He is represented by WME.
Amazon also has exclusive first-look production deals with Bona Fide Productions, Killer Films and Le Grisbi Productions.
