CBS Films has pre-emptively acquired the rights to Liane Moriarty‘s novel, The Husband’s Secret.
Published by Amy Einhorn Books on July 30, the New York Times best-seller centers on three women whose lives are plunged into crises after one of the women opens a Pandora’s box that ties all three women together in ways no one could have suspected.
“This is a book that is being read and passed on to friends by women of all ages,” said CBS Films co-president Terry Press in announcing the deal. “The characters and story have evoked strong critical and reader reactions and we are thrilled to translate that to the big screen.”
The Husband’s Secret marks the Australian author’s fifth novel, following Three Wishes (2004), The Last Anniversary (2006), What Alice Forgot (2010) and The Hypnotist’s Love Story (2011). Moriarty has also penned several children’s books.
Moriarty is repped by Jerry Kalajian of Intellectual Property Group and Fiona Inglis of Curtis Brown Australia. Winnie Kemp will oversee for CBS Films.
Upcoming films on the CBS Films slate include Last Vegas on Nov. 1 and the Coen brothers’ Inside Llewyn Davis on Dec. 6. The company recently picked up spec scripts Split and Omega Point and acquired YA novel Children of Paranoia.
