Cinderella remained on top in the world’s second biggest film market, taking $28.37 million in its first full week in Chinese theaters for a cume of $53.45 million after 10 days, according to data from the research group Entgroup.
Kenneth Branagh‘s live-action take on the fairy-tale classic notched up 219,829 screenings and 5.68 million admissions.
In second place was the Andy Lau-starrer Lost and Love, which was written and directed by Peng Sanyuan and tells the story of a man searching for his abducted son. The movie took $18.17 million in its opening three days, with 117,630 screenings and 3.59 million admissions.
That was just ahead of Liam Neeson in Taken 3, which took $17 million its opening weekend from 107,285 screenings and 2.78 million admissions.
Disney also had fourth place with Oscar winner Big Hero 6, which added $11.59 million for a cume of $78 million after 23 days in Chinese cinemas.

Behind that was Jupiter Ascending, which is making up for its less than stellar performance in North America with upbeat revenues in China. Jupiter took another $4.47 million for a cume of $44.62 million after 17 days. The expensive sci-fi thriller from directors Lana and Andy Wachowski had 93,821 screenings and 773,038 admissions.
Domestic favorite The Man From Macau II, featuring Hong Kong action star Chow Yun-fat, added another $3.46 million for a cume of $154.13 million, while the $40 million Sino-French epic from Jean-Jacques Annaud, Wolf Totem, added another $2.38 million for a gross of $109.87 million after 32 days.
Behind that was StudioCanal’s CGI live-action film Paddington, which took another $1.94 million for a gross of $14.99 million after 18 days.
In ninth place was the Hong Kong movie Little Big Master, starring Miriam Yeung and Louis Koo, while domestic thriller Nowhere to Run earned another $1.58 million for a cume of $3.42 million after 10 days.
