Star Trek and Jack Ryan star Chris Pine recently was arrested for drunk driving in New Zealand, where he was shooting the upcoming science fiction film Z for Zachariah.
According to local sources, the 33-year-old actor was caught driving drunk in the early hours of March 1, after celebrating with other castmembers at a wrap party in the New Zealand town of Methven.

Canterbury police confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that a 33-year-old American man was stopped during a routine check early March 1 but would not reveal his identify due to New Zealand privacy laws. Local sources say Pine is due in Ashburton district court on March 17.
Z for Zachariah is directed by Craig Zobel (Compliance) and also stars 12 Years a Slave‘s Chiwetel Ejiofor and Margot Robbie from The Wolf of Wall Street. The film is about a 16-year-old girl who survives a nuclear war in a small American town. It’s due out in 2015.

Local paper The New Zealand Herald spoke with the manager of the Blue Pub Methven, where the wrap party was held. According to the outlet, about 70 cast, crew and local volunteers rented the bar to celebrate the conclusion of filming on Feb. 28, with the party ending around 3 a.m. March 1 — the morning Pine was arrested.
“Chris Pine arrived here and had his girlfriend [Iris Bjork Johannesdottir] with him, and he spent most of his time with her — she flew in that day someone told me,” bar manager Casey Crawford told the Herald.
Crawford added that there were designated drivers at the party, and he was surprised to hear that Pine had driven himself.
Pine’s rep has not yet responded to THR‘s request for comment.
