Alexander Payne’s Downsizing just added some more star power.
Christoph Waltz will be joining Matt Damon and Reese Witherspoon in the film. The plot follows an Omaha man who joins the throngs of people undergoing a new process that reduces people to a tiny fraction of their size, allowing them to live in one of the many miniature communities that are sprouting up around the world.
Hong Chau will also be joining the cast of the Paramount project.
Payne co-wrote the screenplay with Jim Taylor and is producing with Mark Johnson. Taylor and Jim Burke are executive producing.
One of Quentin Tarantino’s go-to actors, Waltz is known for his roles in Django Unchained and Inglorious Bastards. He can next be seen alongside Margot Robbie and Alexander Skarsgard in this summer’s Legend of Tarzan.
Chau made her feature-film debut in P.T. Anderson’s Inherent Vice, and is currently shooting HBO’s Little Big Lies alongside Witherspoon.
Waltz is repped by ICM and Sloane Offer. Chau is repped by manager Silver Lining and Stone, Meyer.
