The executive producer of the Chronicles of Narnia trilogy, Perry Moore, 39, was found dead inside his New York City apartment around 9:20 a.m. Thursday morning.
“Police arrived to the scene and the individual was unconscious,” a NYPD spokesperson tells The Hollywood Reporter.
Both the New York Daily News and New York Post cite sources who say he suffered an apparent overdose of OxyContin. The NYPD would not confirm that to THR, saying, “The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.” An Office of the Chief Medical Examiner spokesperson told THR that the autopsy came back inconclusive, and more tests would be needed.
His body was reportedly discovered by his partner, Hunter Hill.
“We’re in shock,” said Perry’s father, Bill Moore, adding that they had spoken the night before and “He was in a great, great mood. No one was expecting this.”
“We’re so sad,” added his father. “He’s been able to reach out and touch a lot of people.”
The Chronicles of Narnia franchise, based off the C.S. Lewis novels, has grossed over $1.5 billion in the box office, and is the 16th highest grossing film series of all time, according to BoxOfficeMojo.com.
