Oscar winner Firth will star opposite Emily Blunt in an untitled dark comedy from commercials director Dante Ariola.

Cinedigm Entertainment Group has acquired U.S. distribution rights to the comedy/drama Arthur Newman and plans a theatrical release in mid-2013, according to an announcement Friday.
The movie, which stars Colin Firth and Emily Blunt, is the story of the mid-life crisis of a man (Firth) who hates his job while his ex-wife and son hate him. He stages his own death and then takes on a new identity as Arthur Newman. Things change when he meets a woman (Blunt) also trying to leave her past behind and they move in together.

The screenplay was written by Becky Johnson (Prince of Tides, Seven Years In Tibet) with Dante Ariola making his feature directing debut.
It is produced by Mac Cappuccino of Vertebra Film and Brian Oliver of Cross Creek, along with Alisa Tager and Becky Johnson. The executive producers are Andy Cappuccino, Helen Cappuccino, Natalie G. Hill, Lisa Bruce, James Holt, Eric Greenfield.
After it plays theaters, Cinedigm will roll out the movie on-demand, for premium digital, on DVD and for television.
The filmmakers were represented by the UTA Independent Film Group, CAA and Eric Greenfield. Vincent Scordino represented Cinedigm.
Focus Features International is selling Arthur Newman in the rest of the world.
