On the same day that China’s Alibaba revealed it was making its first Hollywood investment in the upcoming Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation, Paramount used it presentation at the CineEurope trade show to build up exhibitor excitement levels for the spy actioner, due out July 31.
Tom Cruise gave a video message to the assembled audience, describing the latest Mission: Impossible installation as a “wild ride” and the “best mission yet,” before unveiling extended footage, including the scene in which he ends up clinging from the side of a plane. “You’ve got to see it to believe it,” he added.
Paramount’s co-president international marketing and distribution Mark Viane pointed out that Cruise himself “stuck himself to the plane and clung on.”

Rogue Nation will have its world premiere in Vienna — where some of the film is set — and will be shown at a “pop up IMAX” theater, according to IMAX’s EMEA president Andrew Cripps, who made a brief presentation before Paramount’s.
An exclusive clip was also revealed for the horror comedy Scout’s Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse (formerly Scouts vs. Zombies), which Viane said he believed had “Superbad breakout potential.”
Daddy’s Home was another comedy featured in the presentation, with extended footage shown from the film, which stars Will Ferrell as a step-dad who must compete for his children’s affections against their macho biological father Mark Wahlberg.

Viane unveiled footage from the next Paranormal Activity installment — Ghost Dimension — which he said was the “first done in 3D,” and boosted Paramount’s scare offering with clip from Rings, which takes place 13 years after events in 2002’s supernatural horror smash hit The Ring.
“Samara is back, and she’s out to now seek revenge across the digital world,” he said.
Paramount’s presentation closed with a full screening of Terminator: Genisys, which Viana claimed had “reinvigorated the franchise.”
