Warner Bros. hosted a star-heavy presentation Tuesday night at CinemaCon, bringing to the stage Charlize Theron, Tom Hardy, Henry Cavill, Michael B. Jordan, Sylvester Stallone, Sofia Vergara, Reese Witherspoon, Dwayne Johnson, Channing Tatum, Joe Manganiello, Ed Helms, Christina Applegate, Adrian Grenier and Luke Bracey.
The studio also showed off tons of footage — including new material from The Man From U.N.C.L.E, Black Mass, The Intern, Creed, Point Break and In the Heart of the Sea — at CinemaCon, the annual convention for theater owners in Las Vegas.
Helms got a big laugh from the crowd when the Hangover star opened by quipping, “Vegas! I’ve never been here before.” The Vacation actor took the stage with his co-star Applegate to introduce footage from the New Line comedy, which got some of the biggest laughs of the presentation. “Chris Hemsworth is also in the movie, as are his abs,” Helms told the crowd.
Promoting The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Cavill and Armie Hammer introduced new footage from the spy thriller, followed by new footage from Black Mass, which stars Johnny Depp, and The Intern, starring Robert De Niro.
Jordan and Stallone promoted Creed, a new sequel of sorts to the Rocky story, also showing off new footage from the boxing drama.
President of domestic distribution Dan Fellman started off the presentation by talking about American Sniper, the top domestic film of 2014, before international distribution president Veronika Kwan Vandenberg highlighted the studio’s international successes, including Interstellar and Godzilla.
Kevin Tsujihara, Warner Bros. chairman and CEO, then took over, saying, “I’m proud of the fact that we have the biggest and most diverse slate in the industry.”
He outlined the studio’s future, including at least 10 DC Comics films between now and 2020, three LEGO films and at least three movies from J.K. Rowling‘s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
“Our broad slate gives us one more critical advantage: It lets us work with some of the best filmmakers in the business,” he said.
Mario Lopez took over hosting duties for the remainder of the presentation. He ran through the studio’s summer slate and presented new trailers for Hot Pursuit, starring Vergara and Witherspoon, Mad Max: Fury Road (with Hardy and Theron) and San Andreas (starring Johnson).
“We wanted to make a movie that shook your theater, that was relentless, and the ride was incredible,” said Johnson of his earthquake catastrophe film.
The stars of Entourage — Grenier, Kevin Connolly, Kevin Dillon and Jerry Ferrara — and director Doug Ellin presented a longer trailer for their summer film, and the stars of Magic Mike XXL, including Tatum, Manganiello and Matt Bomer, also took the stage before a new trailer for their stripper sequel.
Other footage included a first look at the Zac Efron-starring film We Are Your Friends, which does not yet have a release date, and the trailer for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which premiered over the past weekend.
