Peter Jackson won’t be presenting The Hobbit at Comic-Con this year.
The director wrote in a Facebook post Wednesday that he didn’t feel like the movie was at a point where he could give a quality presentation at the conference, which kicks off Thursday in San Diego.

“New Line and Warner Bros. were very happy to support a presentation, but I declined, simply because I felt it was too early,” he wrote. “There’s so much more of the films still to shoot. I just wanted to get that out there, because I’ve seen various references to the possibility of something Hobbity at Comic Con. Hate to disappoint anyone. But something tells me we will be there in force next year.”

And to tide fans over in the meantime, Jackson did post another “production video” from the Hobbit set on his Facebook page.
“We’ve just finished a new video blog, covering a little more of the first block of shooting,” he wrote. “So please enjoy this — at least you don’t have to travel to San Diego to see it!”
