The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will swing its way onto the Comic-Con stage this year.
As part of Sony’s presentation on Friday, July 19, the film’s star Andrew Garfield will be attendance, along with director Marc Webb and stars Jamie Foxx and Dane DeHann. In the sequel, Peter Parker (Garfield) is living a busy life between school, crime-fighting and spending time with his girl, Gwen (Emma Stone). But he’s faced with a greater nemesis when Electro (Foxx), emerges, while an old friend, Harry Osborn (DeHaan), returns.
Garfield made his first appearance at Comic-Con as the web-slinging hero in 2011. He showed up as a member of the audience dressed in the Spider-Man suit, and delivered a passionate speech about playing the superhero.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is set for release on May 2, 2014.
Sony will also bring another sequel — Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2 — to their Hall H event. Directors Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn and actors Anna Faris and Terry Crews will join in on the panel. The animated pic opens in theaters on Sept. 27.
Sony will round out its presentation with the remake of Robocop, produced by MGM and Columbia. Directed by José Padilha, the film stars The Killing‘s Joel Kinnaman, along with Abbie Cornish and Samuel L. Jackson. Both the actors and the director will make appearances. The film follows Alex Murphy (Kinnaman), who is critically injured in the line of duty and made into a man-machine hybrid by multinational conglomerate OmniCorp. It’s slated for a Feb. 7, 2014, release.
