Conan O'Brien Chad Hurley Split - H 2013

Held each year on the Thursday night before the Academy Awards, this year’s event takes place Feb. 27 at J.J. Abrams‘ Bad Robot production company in Santa Monica.
The nonprofit US-Ireland Alliance created the event to recognize the contributions of the Irish (and those with Irish ancestry) in film and television and to allow for people in the creative industries in the U.S. and Ireland to meet once a year.
O’Brien was born in Brookline, Mass. The host of the TBS’ late-night show has ancestors that originated in County Kerry, Ireland.
“Conan deploys his humor, intelligence and talent in the promotion of films. And there is also the matter of needing to settle his claim that he is the owner of O’Brien’s Castle on the Cliffs of Moher,” US-Ireland Alliance president Trina Vargo said.
Hurley, born in the Philadelphia suburb of Birdsboro, Pa., and his YouTube co-founder, Steve Chen, recently launched Avos, a digital media creation and discovery company that includes MixBit, a video creation app — a way for movie content to be created, mixed and edited around the world.
With Jawed Karim, the pair launched YouTube in 2005 and sold it to Google a year later for $1.65 billion.
Last year, Colin Farrell and Lionsgate vice chairman Michael Burns were honored at the Irish in Film event. Among those previously lauded were Abrams, Michelle Williams, Paul Rudd, Hylda Queally, Seamus McGarvey, Sarah Bolger, Saoirse Ronan, Brendan Gleeson, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Colm Meaney, Van Morrison, Terry George, Neil Jordan, Jim Sheridan and late THR writer and editor Steve Brennan.
