Getty ImagesIt appears the New York Post took Dana Brunetti’s high-altitude tweeting a little too seriously. On Sept. 8, the Relativity Media president posted to his 107,000 Twitter followers a photo of a large aircraft with the following message: “Boarding the new Relativity jet. Much bigger than I thought.”
That was followed by such fantastical details as the plane’s hot-tub malfunction and — on his Facebook page — a mention of a new Relativity helicopter, prompting a business story in the Post with the headline: “Relativity Media still flying high despite bankruptcy.”
The only problem was that Brunetti was being facetious. After all, several of the photos featured United Airlines signage on both the side of the plane and the luggage cart.

Brunetti, who is known for infusing his posts with humor, was perplexed by the Post’s reaction. “Anyone can see that it’s farce and I was being a smartass about it,” he told THR at the Toronto International Film Festival. “You can look at the picture and the tail or the luggage cart and see that it says United on it. It’s like a 737. It’s a big-ass commercial airline.”
