Daniel Radcliffe will star in indie Beast of Burden, playing a drug-smuggling pilot.
Swedish filmmaker Jesper Ganslandt will make his English-language debut with the action-thriller. With a script by Adam Hoelzel, Beast of Burden centers on a pilot (Radcliffe) running drugs across the boarder who must navigate the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Cartel and others over the course of a day.
Paul Schiff is producing along with Michael Diamond of MGMT Entertainment. Chad Moore and Jeff Elliott of Green-Light also will produce. Green-Light is handling foreign sales for the film, which will be shot in late November in Savannah, Ga. The project will be introduced to buyers at the upcoming AFM in November. UTA Independent Film Group will represent North American rights.
Jesper is a notable filmmaker in Sweden, previously helming The Ape, Blondie and Jimmie, which is now in postproduction. He’s repped by Paradigm, MGMT Entertainment and Jeff Hynick.
Radcliffe was most recently seen in Sundance breakout Swiss Army Man and Now You See Me 2. His upcoming films include Imperium (which Green-Light International also handled) and action-adventure film Jungle. He is represented by UTA, Sue Latimer and Fred Toczek.
Hoelzel, who penned the script for By the Rivers of Babylon, is repped by UTA, MGMT Entertainment and David Jelenko.
