LONDON – Daniel Radcliffe stepped out without his trusted wand and wizardry for the world premiere of his first post-Harry Potter role in The Woman in Black in the British capital Tuesday.
For his first spell after Potter, Radcliffe stars in the spooky Victorian England-set picture which also includes Janet McTeer, who was in Los Angeles at the time, in its cast.
McTeer is fresh from learning she has been nominated for a supporting role actress Oscar for her turn in Albert Nobbs.
Radcliffe drew a crowd — albeit smaller than he’s used for at the height of Potter mania — for the premiere held at the Royal Festival Hall on the Southbank.
The dank, damp weather did nothing to dampen the spirits of the crowds all waiting to see the Potter star.
Before the film unspooled, Radcliffe said it turned out scary enough to “make me jump.”
The James Watkins-directed ghost story adaptation is penned by Jane Goldman and backed by Alliance Films, Hammer Films Productions, Cross Creek Pictures, Exclusive Media Group and Film I Vast.
It is a long-anticipated return to British horror stories for Hammer.
Radcliffe also said he will next play poet Allen Ginsberg in the independent film, Kill Your Darlings on the big screen next.
