Courtesy of Slate PRLONDON – Oscar-winning filmmaker Danny Boyle‘s much-anticipated journey to the small screen with cop drama Babylon will be touted to buyers by indie distributor DRG at NATPE.
Written by BAFTA winners Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong, the team responsible for a slew of cult British comedy shows such as Peep Show, Fresh Meat and the dark comedy movie Four Lions, Babylon is produced by Robert Jones (The Usual Suspects) and Derrin Schlesinger (Southcliffe). It takes a wry look at the people and politics in the command rooms and on the front line of a modern police force, as it attempts to uphold the peace under constant scrutiny.
The pilot episode, directed by Boyle, is due to debut in February on Channel 4 in the U.K. and will be followed by a further six episodes that already have been ordered for production.

Boyle will executive produce the series along with Armstrong, Bain and Jones.
The series was green-lit for Channel 4 by head of drama Piers Wenger and commissioning editor Roberto Troni.
The cast includes James Nesbitt (The Hobbit) and Brit Marling (Another Earth), who stars as a media-savvy American who has been parachuted in to revolutionize the PR department of London’s police force.
DRG CEO Jeremy Fox said: “At heart, it’s a crime series, but with this creative team, you’ll have never seen a police force at work like this. Once again it shows what we can do as part of the MTG family.”
