She’s still going strong (i.e., still has her head) as Margaery Tyrell in Game of Thrones, but soon Natalie Dormer (The Hunger Games, Rush, The Tudors) will take on another dangerous role, this time in British thriller In Darkness.
The actress, who co-wrote the script with director Anthony Byrne, is joined by Ed Skrein (The Transporter Refueled) and Stacy Martin (Nymphomaniac) on the “psychological revenge thriller.” Dormer is set to play a blind musician who gets pulled into London’s dark underbelly after she hears a murder committed in the apartment above her.
Byrne will produce alongside 42’s Ben Pugh and Josh Varney, with Rory Aitken & Josh Horsfield executive producing. Production is scheduled to begin in early 2016, with XYZ introducing the title to international buyers at the upcoming the American Film Market in Los Angeles. UTA is handling U.S. sales.
“Anthony and Natalie have crafted a supremely intelligent and grown-up thriller in In Darkness and we are delighted to be working with them to bring this to life,” said 42’s Varney and Pugh. “It’s super exciting to see this movie come together with such a wonderful lead cast in Natalie and Ed and Stacey and to have XYZ as our partner.”
Dormer and Skrein are on something of a roll at moment. Dormer, who will soon be seen in the Hunger Games finale Mockingjay: Part 2, is also set to take the lead in Focus Features’ The Forest and Screen Gems’ Patient Zero. Skrein, fresh from his Transporter reboot at EuropaCorp, recently finished production on Deadpool as the villain Ajax opposite Ryan Reynolds. He’s also lined up to star as a fashion photographer in The Model, directed by Mads Matthiesen.
Dormer is repped by Untitled Entertainment, UTA and United Agents. Skrein is represented by 42 and CAA.
