David O. Russell has found his next project, and it’s a fashionable one.
The Joy and American Hustle director has created a special multi-screen film installation for Prada, which will launch in conjunction with the debut of the women’s spring/summer ’17 collection in Milan on Sept. 22.
The presentation will feature fragments of Past Forward, a short film collaboration between Russell and designer Miuccia Prada.
Past Forward is described as a surreal dreamscape with an eclectic cast replaying scenes in shifting combinations. The black-and-white short film is designed for display in multiple environments: museum installation, cinema, social media, and online.
The full film will premiere in Los Angeles in November and will then be available on Prada.com.
The project is Russell’s first notable project with a designer. He was nominated for the Academy Award for best director for American Hustle, Silver Linings Playbook and The Fighter as well as best writing for original screenplay for American Hustle and adapted screenplay for Silver Linings Playbook He’s repped by CAA.
