David Oyelowo and Gugu Mbatha-Raw are in negotiations to star in God Particle from producer J.J. Abrams.
The high-concept sci-fi film will follow a team of astronauts who make a terrifying discovery, which forces them to fight for their lives as they question the very fabric of reality.
The Paramount project will be directed by Julius Onah with Abrams producing under his Bad Robot banner with Bryan Burke.
The Golden Globe-nominated Oyelowo is known for his portrayal of Martin Luther King Jr. in Ava Duvernay’s Selma. He is currently filming Nash Edgerton’s American Express, where he will appear alongside Charlize Theron and Amanda Seyfried.
Mbatha-Raw starred as an overworked pop star in Beyond the Lights and appeared opposite Will Smith in the NFL drama Concussion. She has been cast in Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast as the anthropomorphic featherduster Plumett.
