FilmRise has acquired the exclusive worldwide rights to the indie drama Five Nights in Maine.
David Oyelowo stars alongside Dianne Wiest and Rosie Perez in the film which follows the story of a man reeling from the loss of his wife, who travels to Maine to find out more about his lost love from her estranged mother.
Five Nights in Maine is the feature length debut for writer-director Maris Curran, and made its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.
“We are honored to bring this gripping, heartfelt film about grief and compassion to theaters and homes in 2016,” said FilmRise CEO Danny Fisher. “We are confident the film’s human story and incredible performances from all-star actors will draw audiences in, as it did us.”
Oyelowo also produced the film alongside Carly Hugo and Matt Parker, with Steven M. Ballerini, Walker Deibel, Glenn Rigberg, Michael Chow and Michael Shen serving as executive producers.
The deal was negotiated by CAA on behalf of the filmmakers.
FilmRise has plans to release the film theatrically in New York, Los Angeles and other select cities in late summer 2016.
